How this data gets here

1. Source

gem.gov.in — India's Government e-Marketplace. Every state government and central ministry procurement contract is published there.

13,379 categories, 33 states/UTs indexed
→
2. Scrape

A plain-HTTP scraper (no browser, no captcha-solving — GeM's own search and download endpoints turned out to validate their captcha client-side only) pulls contract and line-item data on demand.

Last run: category "Banner or Printed Banner (V2)"
→
3. Store

Results are upserted into Postgres (Supabase) — contracts, line items, and a query log used to decide when cached data is stale enough to re-scrape.

1594 contracts stored
→
4. Serve

This page — a server-rendered FastAPI app on Vercel, reading straight from Postgres. No client-side JavaScript framework; every page is rendered on the server, including this chart.
